THE FINALE!!!!! 2009 ISA WORLD SURFING GAMES

About 5 a.m. this morning, I could hear the crowds of people coming. It started getting really packed about 7:30 on the beach. Considering the waves of people I have seen headed towards the beach, it must be "full up" by now,,,, and with the tide coming in, the coastline of spectators will have to steady retreat (compacting the crowd). It's a sight to behold and with it comes so many little stories, I don't know where to begin. It has been a hell of a week and now, it's peaking. The clouds are moving in and the games are in full heat to determine the winner. DRUM ROLL!!!
I hope, pray, it doesn't rain. All hell will break loose then with people trying to leave and most are pretty drunk already. I have NEVER seen this many people in this area for any event, EVER!

USA got the GOLD.
FINAL Team Results:

GOLD - United States – 14910 points

SILVER - France – 13280 points

BRONZE - Australia - 10996 points

COPPER - Hawaii – 10856 points

My guess... is about a week more since all this stuff they hauled in here has to come out now. I hope they leave the cell service and wireless internet.
All the sirens, horns, people whooping it up, whistles and whistling, in-fricking-credible.
France won.

Um, Hawaii took the bronze. Aren't they a part of the United States? Just wondering cuz I have been gone a few years. :)

I SOOOOOO appreciate you going through all you've had to so you can share with us who enjoy the beach life but not the heat and crowds. THANK-YOU!!!!

I wondered that too about Hawaii but I understand them wanting to be counted separate, ME TOO!
I've got soooo many photos, I'll be posting for weeks! Just kidding! It was some event and I survived. No problems at my home other than the parked cars tore up all the grass. The parking guys were great!! I took care of them with umbrellas, chairs, drinks, black plastic for the rain and they took care of me and watched out for me. It was a great experience being in the center of the chaos and not being exacting IN IT!!
