"YO-YO" in Paradise is my acronym for "You're On Your Own". This is not a site for tourist info on Costa Rica. It's just some Tales and Tattles of my experiences, observations, and the ups and downs of every day living by the Pacific Coast in Costa Rica.
I had stopped to take a photo of this tree at the local surf spot, "Alamandra Tree", when these kids pulled up on a motorcycle.

Well, if it were up here, the guy would owe about $300.00 in fines for not having any "brain buckets" on.....
The littlest one should be driving?
Kidding. Did I tell you about the time I saw a tico being towed by a car down the Costanera at 70kph...on a motorcycle?
I think the Ticos have no fear.
Beth.
I think they live on faith
and Pura Vida.
What's wrong in this photo?
I say that every time I see myself in a pic.
I was looking at the 1st photo thinking, hmmm no surfers. The 2nd didn't phase me as we see it all the time in San Ramon. I've seen as many as FIVE on a motorcycle. Last year the first day of Samana Santa we witnessed a motorcycle miss a s-turn while sitting on our front porch. One of three riders died instantly when he hit a tree, the second died the next morning. We understand the third survived. Perhaps that's why they ride with so many... at least one will live?
The waves haven't been so good in Hermosa or Jaco. Too windy I guess, I don't surf (yet).
I still cringe when I see kids on big motor vehicles. The ATV's scare me the most since my nephew was killed on one. He was 8 years old. What can we do to protect the innocent and those that don't know any better? Not much.
